Abstract: Die vorliegende Arbeit beschreibt die Implementation des Metadatenmanagements für Geodaten aus den Projekten des SFB806. Es soll ein internetbasiertes Informationssystem geschaffen werden, das den Mitgliedern des Pro jektes ermöglicht, Daten an einer zentralen Stelle zu veröffentlichen und somit der projektinternen Forschungsgemeinschaft zugänglich zu machen. Das Informationssystem soll eine sichere und nachhaltige Archivierung der Forschungsergebnisse aus den Projekten des SFB806 gewährleisten und gleichermaßen als integrierte Datenbasis die Forschungsarb eit der Pro jektmitglieder des SFB806 unterstützen.

Abstract: The materials to the teaching unit „‚Migration in the past and today – Where are the differences in the migrations?’ with the focus on handling the question ‚Why did modern humans came to Europe?’” are developed in the frame of the dissertation „Argumentation as a method to solve problems: A class study to the oral argumentation of pupils in cooperative settings in geography lessons” (Sabrina Dittrich). This dissertation was written in the Collaborative Research Center 806 – ‚Our Way to Europe’. The teaching unit can be classified into the 10th grade of grammar schools and into the 11th grade of comprehensive schools accordingly (German school system). Abstract: The video shows results of a large-eddy simulation of Convective Turbulent Dust Emission (CTDE) described by Klose and Shao (2013), Article Large-eddy simulation of turbulent dust emission, Aeolian Research, 8 (doi10.1016/j.aeolia.2012.10.010). Modeled dust concentration is visualized with a volume rendering approach. A particle-tracing is applied to illustrate a dust devil occurring in the simulation. Colors indicate the direction of particle movement. The visualization has been done with DeskVOX, a visualization package developed at the Regional Computing Center Cologne. Abstract: The here documented GIS map and dataset contains a collection of Last Glacial Maximum (LGM, ~21k yBP) paleoenvironmental data. It is the first result of a project that aims to acquire, produce and publish GIS datasets from non-GIS based sources such as analogous maps, textual informations or figures of scientific publications for prehistoric time slices. In combination with modelling results and already available GIS-datasets related to the mentioned time frame, it should enable other researchers and members from other projects to use the maps in their work, properly cited and referenced. The map shows LGM land ice sheets, paleo-stream networks and inland water in Europe, a sea-level adapted (-120m) land mass and a Köppen-Geiger climate classification derived from climate model data.
