      <description descriptionType="Abstract">The data published here are datasets used in the publication by Oliveira and Feord et al. (submitted), entitled: Ionome characterisation from algae isolated from the terrestrial cryosphere using single cell ICP-ToF-MS. This publication presents data characterising the ionomes of algae isolated from the terrestrial cryosphere (snow and ice surfaces) using single cell ICP-ToF-MS. The publication compares the ionomes of cryopshere algae to mesophilic algae. The single cell ICP-ToF-MS data is compared to traditional ICP-MS data with culture lysates. Cell biovolume is calculated using FlowCam pictures and imageJ measurements of width and length. We also include in this data publication the canonical scores of the discriminant analysis comparing the different algal taxa.    <br/>
         <br/>
All data originate from algal cultures grown at the GFZ in a laboratory incubator and does not represent any environmental data. Five algal cultures were used in this study: two polar algae species isolated from snow in Svalbard Microglena sp. (CCCryo 002b-99), Raphidonema Sempervirens (CCCryo 011a-99), one polar algae species isolated from the ice Deuterostichococus sp. GUPI-18 (isolated from the Greenland Ice Sheet) and two mesophilic chlorophyte model strains Chlamydomonas reinhardtii (SAG 33.89) and Acutodesmus Obliquus (SAG 276-1).   <br/>
