This data link summarizes all meteorological and soil measurements of the 15 permanent weather stations established by the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1211 in the Atacama desert in Chile. Basic stations are equipped with standard meteorologic instruments, radiation sensors and a leaf wetness sensor, as well as soil surface, soil temperature and soil humidity sensors. Master stations are additionally equipped with further soil and radiation sensors, as well as temperature, humidity and wind sensor in a height of 4 m. The measurement sites are located in three different transects from the coast to the hillslopes of the Andes each consisting of four to five stations. Recent data are available on the weather station website section (https://www.crc1211db.uni-koeln.de/wd/index.php). Additionaly, detailed information about the station configuration and mounted sensors is given at this website section. The data of these remote stations is mostly collected every hour by a GOES satellite uplink provided by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (U.S. Department of Commerce). Further communication uses GSM-, radio- or Wifi-connections. In addition, data stored in the stations are acquired on a regular time basis, as documented in the section stated above. Please contact the contributor for all further details. Yearly datasets are additionally stored in this CRC1211-DB.
